The dissemination conference of PHARE CBC 2005 Romania - Bulgaria Project "A common road - Romanian - Bulgarian partnership for sustainable development of cross - border access infrastructure" 

In September 2007, Calarasi County Council started the implementation of Phare CBC 2005 Romania - Bulgaria project RO2005/017-535.01.03.03, in cooperation with Mayoralty of Calarasi and Mayoralty of Silistra (Bulgaria).

During its implementation period of 12 month and with a budget of 52,650 Euro, the project set as the major objective a  common planning in the border area Romania (Calarasi) - Bulgaria (Silistra), regarding identifying and promoting the development priorities of the nearby road infrastructure network in order to increase the accessibility and to facilitate the traffic in the crossing point Călăraşi (RO) - Silistra (BG).

The dissemination conference of the results of the project will be held at Calarasi County Council headquarters on 3rd of September 2008, at 11.00 o'clock.

The following main activities were developed in order to achieve the objective :

1. Campaign for promoting the project

2. Establishing a common Romanian - Bulgarian Committee and running its activities

3. Purchasing materials and equipments

4. Producing and delivering informative and promotional materials

5. A seminar called "Development priorities of cross - border transportation infrastructure"

6. Feasibility Study  - Development of road infrastructure connected to the crossing border point Călăraşi - Silistra

7. Project Evaluation

By achieving its proposed objectives, the project achieved a sustainable integrated economical development of the border area RO - BG, in Călăraşi - Silistra area for reducing the peripheral character by stimulating the cross border flow of merchandises and people and encouraged the involvement of Romanian and Bulgarian actors into the PHARE CBC Programme.
