Environment Preservation and Protection - Ecological Techniques of Controlling Mosquito Populations

 

During the period 17th to 18th of June 2009, in Calarasi Municipality, it will take place a work-shop on the subject Environment Preservation and Protection - Ecological Techniques of Controlling Mosquito Populations. The event is organised within the project activities "Joint environment management by means of controlling mosquito populations in the cross-border region Calarasi - Silistra".

The project, financed through 2005 Romania - Bulgaria Cross-Border Cooperation PHARE Program, budget line RO2005/017-535.01.02.01, is implemented by Calarasi County Council in partnership with Mayoralty of Silistra (Bulgaria) and Agency for Environment Protection Calarasi, having as associate E.I.D. ATLANTIQUE (France).

The general purpose of this project is to improve environment management in view of increasing life quality, of valuing tourist potential and of protecting biodiversity in the cross border region Calarasi - Silistra.

During the first day of this event the larval treatment stages will be presented along with the good practice examples in using ecological technologies for controlling mosquitoes population in the E.U.'countries and framing these actions within environmental projects at local public administration level. On the second day some practical application of larval treatment will be made in the urban zone and the flooded areas.
